Benefit planned for Linda (Stubbins) Dillon 3.18.09

Posted in 2009 March

An accident at home has left a former Morenci resident partially paralyzed. Friends have planned a benefit dinner to help her with some needs.

Linda (Stubbins) Dillon, a 1962 Morenci Area High School graduate, broke her neck in an accident last November and spent several weeks hospitalized at the University of Michigan Hospital.

Her hospital stay was followed by time in a rehabilitation center in Ann Arbor. She was finally released Saturday and is living with her daughter, Pam, in Saline.

Linda is paralyzed from the waist down, said her sister, Sandy Jarrell of Morenci, and will need to move about in a special electric wheelchair.

A benefit dinner March 29 will raise money for the wheelchair and also assist with the purchase of a van with a ramp for her wheelchair.

Linda lived just north of Morenci for many years and served as a bus driver for Adrian Public Schools for more than three decades. She retired two years ago.

The benefit is scheduled from 1 to 5 p.m. March 29 at the The Landing on Rogers Highway near Tecumseh.

A pulled pork meal will be served, and a 50/50 raffle and silent auction are planned.

Contributions may be sent to: Attn. Fundraiser Account, Lenco Credit Union, 615 W. Maple Ave., Adrian, MI 49221.
