Morenci school district voters will have plenty of candidates to choose from in the May election. Four candidates filed petitions to fill two board of education seats.

Board veteran Jim Place filed to serve another term. He was first elected to the board in 1994 and served three four-year terms, ending in 2006. He was appointed last June to fill a vacancy.

Scott Merillat hopes to remain a board member. He was appointed in October 2006 to fill a vacancy until the next election, then elected in 2007 to complete the term that will expire this year.

Others seeking office are Phil McCaskey and Sean Seger.

The top two vote winners in the May election will serve four-year terms.
