Pearl's Pizza Palace opens 2.4

It’s been 10 years since Pearl Phelps left the pizza business, but when she got a taste of it a few weeks ago, she knew she wanted back.

“I missed it ever since I sold it,” she said.

When Teresa Stockford opened T&Z Pizzeria in November, Phelps helped her get the business going and that’s when she knew what she wanted.

“I thought, I really like this,” Phelps said.

When T&Z closed earlier this month, Phelps had her chance to start again. The familiar name of Pearl’s Pizza Palace was back in business Monday at 129 W. Main St. in Morenci.

Phelps said the menu will be similar to that of her old restaurant—pizza, sandwiches, salads and some Mexican food items—except that she’s adding buckets of chicken.

In the past, she was located across the street, but she’s pleased with her new facility.

“Teresa worked really hard and did a good job,” Phelps said. “She left it in very good condition.”

Phelps is hoping her Pizza Palace will once again become a popular restaurant. She will be open for business from 4 to 10 p.m. six days a week and noon to 10 p.m. Sundays.
