Fayette FFA members participated in several contests in November and started a community service project.

The Parliamentary Procedure team, consisting of Kalley Martin, Amanda Gilmore, Dakota Shay, Darrell Randall, Parker Stockburger, Ben Kovar, Jessie Torres, Clay Burkholder and Reba Rash, won the Fulton County contest at Archbold High School.

During this contest, members demonstrate the proper procedure to run a formal business meeting.

The team also competed in the district competition at the Penta Career Center and placed third.

To prepare for the competition, team members practiced for nearly a month both before and after school.

Fayette also competed in the county Job Interview contest. Contestants prepare a résumé and cover letter ahead of time. At the contest, they fill out an application, go through an actual interview and then write a follow-up letter.

Described as one of FFA’s most practical contests, the event allows students to obtain a practice interviewing session with someone outside the club.

Team members were Division 1, Amanda Gilmore and Jessie Torres; Division 2, Taylor Curry; Division 3, Heather Cuff; Division 4, Kalley Martin and Dakota Shay; and Division 5, Jacy Lewellen.

Gilmore, Curry and Lewellen advanced to the district competition Dec. 16 at Anthony Wayne High School.

The members of the Fayette FFA Chapter are taking part in a school-wide Christmas cheer campaign to gather non-perishable foods. The donations will be taken to the Fulton County Fairgrounds where members will help sort the food for distribution throughout the area to those in need.
