Seneca Township board 12.17.08

Posted in 2008 December

With new township officers in place, the Seneca planning commission is now in need of two new members.

The new township supervisor John Gould and new clerk Allison Ott resigned from the commission after their election in November, leaving the board short.

Anyone interested in serving on the planning commission should submit a letter of interest and attend the Jan. 12 board meeting.

The board appointed Gould to represent the township on the Morenci Area EMS board.

Ott told the board she doesn’t have a land line telephone for township residents to contact her. She and the new township treasurer, Marie Meinke, spoke of various needs and the board gave them permission to obtain telephone and internet service and needed supplies.

In the 2008 newsletter, Meinke’s phone number was incorrectly listed. The correct number is 445-2138.

INSPECTOR—Board member Chris White told the new board members the board was interested in finding a new building inspector. Gould said he would talk to the inspector, Kevin Arquette, before a replacement was made.

HARDSHIP—Meinke told the board about a hardship case brought to her attention. The request will be referred to a county official and then evaluated by the township board of review.

DRAIN—The county drain commission determined that a problem drain on Ken Waldfogel’s property is probably illegal and was likely installed by a previous owner of the land. The drain commission disclaimed ownership. Waldfogel was advised to contact the drain commission for additional information.

ILLEGAL—A property owner was contacted about the illegality of a second residence on the property.
