Morenci has a new restaurant 11.05.08

Posted in 2008 November

It seems for most of the past two decades, Morenci has had more than one restaurant serving pizza. The city’s single-establishment days have ended again with the opening of T&Z Hometown Pizzeria and More.

Located at 129 W. Main St., T&Z owners Teresa and Zane Stockford have scheduled a grand opening Friday.

Teresa has lived in the Morenci area for 10 years. She said customers may know her from her summer ice cream truck travels through Morenci’s streets.

Although she has a lot of experience in the restaurant business, T&Z marks her first attempt at owning and managing an eatery. She’ll turn for guidance to her assistant, Pearl Phelps, who owned a pizza shop in town for many years.

T&Z’s offerings will go far beyond pizza. A soup and salad bar is available every day, Teresa said, a nightly hot buffet is planned. In addition, a breakfast buffet will be served every weekend morning.

Menu details can be found in the advertisement on page 7 of this week’s Observer.

T&Z also has a game room with a pool table and arcade games.

The restaurant plans to remain open every night until 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.
