Teen dance planned in Morenci 10.8

Posted in 2008 October

Teen dances, complete with live bands, will be scheduled in Morenci.

Organizer Kent Deatrick, who orchestrated a Battle of the Bands for this year’s Town and Country Festival, saw a need for local teens and local bands to come together, so he has organized teen concerts at Taylor Hall, located inside the former Dollar General building.

“My vision is to create a fun and safe place for teens to enjoy that reflects a positive environment and helps add to the other community activities and events,” Deatrick said.

Stereo Static and Chasing Chaos will perform the first concert scheduled from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18. All local teens are invited to attend. Admission costs $5 per person. Refreshments will be available to purchase.

REACT, a volunteer security group, will furnish security for all the concerts and will be located inside and outside the building.

Rules for the teen participants to follow include no loitering around the outside premises; no smoking; no illegal drugs or alcoholic beverages will be permitted; no fighting or profanity; and no outside food or drinks. A zero tolerance policy will be in effect and anyone breaking a rule will be escorted from the premises permanently. Rules will be posted at the concert.
