Fayette Fall Fest scheduled Sept. 27 9.17

Fayette’s 12th annual Fall Fest is coming Sept. 27 in the downtown business district.

The weekend event will kick off Friday night with a teen dance at the American Legion, sponsored by the Fayette Firefighter Explorers.

The main events begin Saturday morning with the car and truck show at the Methodist Church parking lot. Produce and fall flowers will be sold on North Fayette Street that will be closed to traffic for a block.

Merchandise will also be on sale from area businesses, organizations and school groups. Items will from craft booths and flea markets will be on display along Main Street.

The pie baking contest returns with judging in the Opera House at 10 a.m. Apple, pecan and pumpkin pies are the featured flavors.

New events this year include a corn hole contest sponsored by the Explorers and a car bash sponsored by the Volley for a Cure group.

Fayette’s FFA group will take charge of the Kiddieland events again this year from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Visitors will have plenty of food choices. Don Stiriz’s bean and ham soup will be simmering in the copper kettle and the Arts Council will again offer sausage and hamburgers.

The Fayette Christian Church plans a bake sale, the Lions Club will offer milkshakes and the Church of the Nazarene will sell caramel apples, carmel corn and Hawaiian ice.

Downtown restaurants Amigo’s and Buckboard Grill will also offer festival specials.

Live entertainment on the Village Green includes performances by Phyllis Page, Steve and Tina Snider and “Big Al” the DJ.
