Fayette school board meets 9.10

Fayette Board of Education members addressed several start-of-the-year issues at their rescheduled meeting Aug. 26.

A $4,000 contract was approved with the Northwest Ohio Community Action Commission, calling for that agency to serve as the fiscal officer for the preschool program in Fayette’s school.

A sliding scale was approved for lunch costs and tuition at the preschool.

The board voted to stay with the existing guidelines for use of the weight room by the public. An annual fee of $50 will be charged.

A tuition rate of $3,994 was set for out-of-county students, in accordance with state guidelines.

The district will pay $3,829 for a one-year contract with the Fulton County Board of Health for school nurse services.

DEMOLITION—Board members approved the specifications of a bid package seeking demolition of the old high school and elementary school buildings.

DONATIONS—The Class of 2008 Parent Support Group donated $226 to the junior high/senior high principal fund and $1,300 to help pay for the senior class composite photo display.

Dr. LouAnn Boyer bought a $50 digital sign for Mrs. Wise’s classroom.

ADMISSION—Ticket prices for students were increased to follow the Buckeye Border Conference policy. Student admission now costs $4 for varsity games and $2 for junior high games.

PARKS—Jennifer Williams and Mark Schang were approved as representatives of the Fayette Parks and Recreation Board.

FFA—The Fayette FFA was given approval to attend Greenhand Camp Sept. 28 to 30.

STAFF—Cinda Metcalf was approved as a substitute teacher and Chris Hylander as substitute van driver.

Substitute bus drivers include Russ Griggs, Rodney Kessler, Steve Hartman, Jon Rupp, LaWonda Keefer, Rod Sommers and Doris Cuff.

Substitute custodians are Diane Reinking, Wendi Wyatt, Ryan Eberly, Janie Keefer and Doris Buff.

Substitute classified staff are Lynette Smith, Kelly Willeman, Diane Reinking, Doris Cuff, Dana Hanna and Velvet Randall.

Secretarial substitutes are Paula Ferguson, Chris Hylander and Lynette Smith. Paula Ferguson is the study hall substitute.

FAMILY LEAVE—Family leave was approved for Carissa Beck through Nov. 14. Jason Ohlemacher will serve as substitute. Lyndsi Shininger will serve as a substitute for Brittan Bosco, who is also on a pregnancy leave.

COACH—Danni Keefer was hired to serve as co-varsity and junior varsity volleyball coach, working with Jodi Ordway. She was previously hired as a junior high coach.

MENTOR—Barb Bruggeman was approved as the mentor to work with new teachers.
