Wrestling show coming to Morenci 9.4

Posted in 2008 September

Some serious pain will be inflicted Saturday night in the Morenci Area High School gymnasium—at least that’s how it’s going to appear—when Championship International Wrestling (CIW) brings its show to town.

CIW presents “One Warrior Nation” at 7 p.m. Saturday in a Morenci Town and Country fund raising effort.

The group performed Monday at the Waldron Labor Day Festival, entertaining the crowd with the smacks, kicks and slams of big-time wrestling.

“This is just a warm-up,” said festival member Barb Foss. “The same company will be at our festival in June 2009 but will have national talent featured.

This Saturday, expect bouts with costumed, masked wrestlers including Helvis, Nitro, Big Chuck Wagon and Dark Horse, plus tag teams such as Bump N Ugly.

The good guys will face the dirty tricks of the bad guys as audience members are encouraged to show their loathing for the bad sports.

Fans can purchase reduced-price tickets in advance at Johnson’s Hardware in Morenci or at the Friendly Store in Waldron.

A special VIP ticket is good for a ringside seat, a hotdog, popcorn and soft drink.
