It’s no ordinary school year beginning next week for Fayette students. All pupils—from pre-school through grade 12—will flock to new classrooms when school gets underway Tuesday morning.
The entry tone will sound at 7:45 a.m. for students who want to purchase breakfast and at 7:50 for all others.
Administrators are urging students and parents to abide by driving and parking rules to help with traffic flow and safety.
Students who drive to school should use the main (east) drive and park on the east side of the building—near the entrance with the canopy—and enter the school through the doors under the canopy.
Parents who drop off students should enter in the west drive and follow the arrows painted on the road surface.
Students should be dropped off in front of their school—either the elementary or the junior/senior high—and then cars can loop around and exit back through the west drive. Look for the Elementary School sign for grades kindergarten through sixth and for the High School sign for grades seven though 12.
Using the west entry will avoid congestion in the main drive where buses will enter.
LUNCH—The high school will now follow a closed campus lunch policy and students will not be allowed to go into town for lunch.
In addition, students will not be allowed to use skateboards, rollerblades, freestyle bicycles and Heely-type shoes on school property.
SCHEDULES—Students in grades seven through 12 can pick up class schedules between 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Thursday.
REGISTRATION—Students new to the district who haven’t yet registered for school should call for an appointment (high school, 237-2114; elementary school, 237-2776).
