First Universalist has new pastor 8.6

The Reverend Lynn M. Kerr is the new minister at the First Universalist (Unitarian Universalist) Church in Lyons. Rev. Kerr will begin her ministry at the 10:30 a.m. worship service Aug. 10. A potluck lunch will follow the service.

A graduate of the University of Minnesota and Starr King Divinity School, Rev. Kerr was ordained by the First Unitarian Universalist Church of San Francisco in 1998.

Rev. Kerr works part-time with the First Unitarian Church of Toledo as the Minister of Religious Education. Her husband, Jerry, is employed by the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department as the coordinator for the AIDS program.

The Kerrs have a son, Rowan, who will be seven years old next week.

The Kerrs enjoy scuba diving, cross country skiing and other outdoor activities.

Rev. Kerr is a native of Ladysmith, Wis.

First Universalist Church is located at 145 E. Morenci St. in Lyons. Sunday morning worship service is scheduled at 10:30 a.m., with Sunday School during the service.

People of all faiths and religious traditions are welcome to attend.

ORDINATION—The public is invited to the ordination of former church member Terrance Robinson, M.D., into the Unitarian Universalist ministry.

The program begins at 6:30 p.m. Friday. A buffet dinner will be served before the ceremony.
