Fayette’s former physical education and health teacher will serve two concurrent three-year prison terms after she was found guilty of sexual battery of two male students.
Tabatha Fidler, 37, of Angola, Ind., was sentenced July 14 in the Williams County Common Pleas Court following two felony convictions.
Sexual battery, in this case, refers to sexual relations between a teacher and a minor. It is a third degree felony.
One charge against Fidler is based on accusations of sexual conduct with a boy in June 2007 at her former home in Montpelier.
Another charge was added after anonymous letters and e-mails were sent to the county prosecutor’s office. These referred to two incidents with an 18-year-old student in 2004 when Fidler taught in the North Central School District in Pioneer.
Fidler changed her plea from not guilty to guilty after the second charge was added, according to an interview with prosecutor Thomas Thompson that was published in the Toledo Blade.
Fidler was placed on administrative leave in January and resigned in April.
