Lenawee County Fair opens 7.16

Posted in 2008 July

Don’t forget—the Lenawee County Fair is no longer an August event. The event now gets underway in July and this year’s fair starts Sunday in Adrian.

In addition to the headline entertainment—singer Lorrie Morgan, Jimmy Buffet tribute group Parrots of the Caribbean and the Doodlebops Live—visitors can choose from an array of free entertainment, both in the band shell and around the fairgrounds.

The popular Chenille Sisters of Ann Arbor perform at 8 p.m. July 23. The sisters have performed their harmonies since 1985.

Right before the Chenilles, at 6:30 p.m., Charles Elliott, Patrick Dunn and Kaitlyn Yarger of Lenawee County will perform a country music show.

At 7 p.m. July 24, Fiddlers Restrung will take to the band shell stage. The Saline band is described as one of the nation’s top high school bluegrass and folk groups.

Adrian magician Stuart MacDonald performs July 25 at 8 p.m., along with his wife, Lori.

Other free entertainment includes the Bear Mountain Wildlife Encounter Show, featuring Syrian brown bears. The show will be performed throughout the seven-day run of the fair.

Street entertainer Wade Henry will return for his fourth fair week appearance. Henry will juggle and joke around the fairgrounds Monday through Saturday.

Bruce Safarian will also perform throughout the week, with entertainment including unicycle riding and juggling blades and fire.

For the younger set, the Travel’n Riverboat Show will feature music and fun as members parade around the fairgrounds.
