Seneca Township board members voted last month to join Morenci and Medina Township in raising the ambulance service fee by 10 percent.
The annual assessment charged each residence increases from $75 to $82.50.
Pay increases are included in the 2008-09 budget approved by the board. The annual salary for the supervisor and treasurer will increase by $500 to $8,100. The township clerk’s pay takes a bigger jump, from $8,500 to $9,600.
Trustees will now be paid $150 for each meeting, up from $100, and the hourly rate will increase from $9 to $11. Jan Emmons will receive $15 for cleaning the township hall—up from $10.
A PA116 application was approved for property owned by Gould Farms and a second application from the Goulds will be considered at the August meeting.
EMS—The balance in the Morenci Area EMS budget stood at $11,376 as of May 31, with no bank loan remaining.
FUNDING—Don Emmons learned at the May township association meeting that state revenue sharing was expected to remain the same as last year.
FEES—Building inspector Kevin Arquette is expected to attend the August township meeting to discuss the fee schedule for building permits.
DRAIN—Ken Waldfogel spoke to the board about drain problems on Railroad Street. He was told by the Lenawee County Drain Commission that it’s a township drain and the board could contract with the commission for repairs.
ROAD—Elliott Highway will be wedged but not sealed due to lack of funds.
MEETINGS—The next township board meeting is scheduled at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 11. A board of review meeting will be announced later this month.
