The Fayette Area Chamber of Commerce will meet Monday for what’s called a Summer Stakeholders’ Meeting.
The 6:30 p.m. dinner will be preceded by a hospitality session beginning at 6 p.m. A $10 donation is suggested for the dinner and reservations should be made by calling Dee Potter at 419/237-2116.
The event will take place at the Fayette Business Park Tech Center Auditorium (the former Fayette Tubular Products plant). Adjacent parking is available.
The word “stakeholder” is the public sector’s equivalent of a “shareholder” in the private sector, said Chamber officer Tom Spiess. Chamber officials noted that shareholders typically have an annual meeting at which the performance of their investment is compared to its projected return or “promise.”
“Just as the investors in the private sector, we will be providing an opportunity for those citizen stakeholders to look at the performance of their public sector investments,” Spiess said.
The meeting will focus on education. The guest panel includes Gorham-Fayette superintendent Russell Griggs, Four County Joint Vocational School’s David Nichols and Northwest State College president Tom Stuckey.
An informal discussion will follow a “kitchen table” format with conversations taking place around a large common table.
Fayette’s 2008 Citizen of the Year will also be introduced at the meeting.
Proceeds from the meal will benefit the local volunteers and members of the 21st Ohio OVI—sponsors of the Thistle Ridge Civil War Encampment and Reænactment scheduled July 12 and 13.
