A former Fayette teacher recently pled guilty to two counts of sexual battery. Sentencing is scheduled July 14 in Williams County Common Pleas Court.
Tabatha Fidler, 37, was indicted March 26 on a single count of sexual battery, but a second charge was added during the course of the investigation, according to a story in the Bryan Times.
Under Ohio law, sexual battery includes engaging in sexual conduct when the offender is a teacher and the other person is a minor.—in this case, a 16-year-old boy. The charge is a third-degree felony. Each charge carries a prison term ranging from one to five years.
Fidler joined the Fayette school staff in the 2005-06 school year as a physical education and health teacher after previously serving in the North Central district.
She was placed on administrative leave in March and the board of education accepted her resignation in April.
