Elizabeth Stella to retire from library 6.4

Posted in 2008 June

A change in leadership is coming soon to Stair Public Library with the impending retirement of Elizabeth Stella.

Stella was hired to serve as library director in 1988 and oversaw numerous changes in services offered, as well as construction of the new building.

The library board of directors voted last month to promote assistant director Colleen Leddy to the position of director, effective at the start of the new fiscal year July 1.

Council members voted last month to hire Leddy, however, details of the contract are still being discussed.

Leddy joined the library staff in 1998 as a library assistant and was soon appointed assistant director.

The board will hire a new part-time worker and also appoint an assistant director to take Leddy’s place.
