Isobar's August weather report 9.06

George Isobar wants to wring out the weather report for August before speaking about it.

Even though 11 days have passed since the last drop of rain has fallen, the soggy month of August is still a fresh memory for Morenci’s climate observer.

“We’ve had some wet Augusts since records were kept starting in 1975, but nothing tops last month for precipitation,” Isobar said.

Actually, 1975 was the previous champ, he said, when 9.03 inches of rain fell. This year, the tally ended at 9.99.

“Toledo ended up with about an inch a half less than we did,” Isobar said, “and of course there are areas that were even wetter.”

There were six 24-hour periods with more than an inch of rain. It kept adding up until De-Mor Hills Golf Course had to shut down for a few days, he said.
