City council members hear complaints 9.06

Posted in 2007 September

Another Morenci city council meeting, another complaint session about rental units.

But that was just the beginning.

In less than 90 minutes Aug. 27, audience members moved from rental property to the behavior of some renters, improper removal of asbestos siding, the behavior of minors and minors out after the curfew, bicycles on downtown sidewalks, falling housing values, rising housing assessments, manure tankers passing through town, noisy motorcycles, foul language in public,  too much trash at the curb and, as a good summary, the contention that the city of Morenci is going downhill.

Shortly after mayor Russ Sutherland asked for questions from the audience, one resident left the meeting in tears after telling councilors about living near a rental house.
