Fayette moving forward on sewer upgrade 7.11

Posted in 2007 July

Fayette is on its way toward financing major upgrades to the sewage treatment system, but there’s still a long way to go.

Village administrator Tom Spiess told council members June 28 that planning for the first phase of the project is underway, partially funded by a $40,000 CDBG grant through the Fulton County Commissioners.

“Funding is tight, but the commissioners gave us 100 percent of our request,” Spiess said. “How did we get it? We made people aware of our situation.”

Spiess said the grant covers about 15 percent of the expected $272,000 costs of the first phase of the project, slated to begin in 2008.

Spiess will put together a grant and loan application with the help of Rural Communities Assistance Program (RCAP) in hopes of obtaining additional funding.
