Zack Craig chooses West Liberty State College 5.9

Morenci High School basketball standout Zack Craig is headed to West Virginia.

The senior signed a letter of intent last month to play at West Liberty State College, an NCAA Div. II school located on the state’s northern panhandle.

Craig, a four-year varsity starter, is the leading scorer in Morenci High School history with 1,606 points and was named unanimously to the Class C all-state team by the Associated Press. He finished his final season with an average of 21.9 points per game, a 75.5 free throw percentage, and a 50 percent accuracy rate from three-point range—a statistic high school coach Jim Bauer called “amazing.”

Craig attributed his choice to play for West Liberty on the emphasis the team places on scoring. Last season, the Hilltoppers led their division with an average of 104 points per game.
