2013.05.30 Larry Sines: Residents offer reward for vandalism

Our phone rang Saturday morning, May 18, and the party on the other end was Officer Borck of our local police department, informing us that someone had destroyed the two matching lions at our investment property formerly known as the old Morenci Hospital.

It’s a shame when people try to fix up their properties so our town looks better and then some low-life individuals, that obviously have no morals let alone any respect for others much less for themselves, destroy it.

It’s not just our property that has been vandalized. A Main Street home had a Coca-Cola bear in front that was destroyed, a nice Halloween/Thanksgiving display on Locust Street was destroyed and our Veteran Memorial at Wakefield Park was destroyed. The list goes on and on.

When is something going to be done besides lip service? When the vandals start coming into our homes invading our privacy? Or when someone gets hurt, or God forbid, killed?

We are hoping to get something moving in the right direction. We are offering a $300 reward for information leading to the apprehension and disciplinary action of these individuals. We believe we have all had enough. Any information should be directed to Chief Weeks.
