Merry Christmas to all. We the people used to almost all say it and mean it. Christmas is the celebration of Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, God the Son coming to His creation in the most humble of circumstances to be a servant of the creation. Whether you personally accept Him as God or not, it is beyond logical dispute that Jesus did in fact exist. So, the celebration of His birth should not be the controversy it has become.
Why would the God of the universe come here as He did? He came to die a horrible death, and even worse, to have our sins placed upon Him and for the only time in eternity be separated briefly from God the Father. If there were any other way (i.e., doing more good than bad, being enlightened, being baptized, taking communion, Mohammed, Buddha, Joseph Smith, the Watchtower) to bridge the gap between God and ourselves (created by our rebellion against our creator) , He would not have done so. He repeatedly tells us these things in scripture (and unlike anyone else, He backs up His claims in front of eyewitnesses who could have refuted them had they been untrue).
In 14:6 "Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” You could also look at Jn 3:16, Jn 6:40, and myriad other places. But like any other gift, we must accept it to receive it. Rev 3:20 "Here I am! I stand at the door and Knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me." Sadly most will not. Mat. 7:13-14 "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it."
I implore you reader. Don't let imperfect Christians be your only witness. Read God's word for yourselves. It is the most difficult book to start and even harder to finish. This is because you have an active enemy who is trying to prevent it. You will be distracted and find a hundred other important things to do. Read it anyway!
