2012.10.17 Becky Thatcher: Oppose plans to lease or sell Ohio Turnpike

Posted in Letters

Governor Kasich said that in less than 30 days he will release the details of the proposed lease of our Ohio Turnpike. All of the residents of northern Ohio and our local officials must do what they can to stop this from happening! Once the reserves ($$$) from the Ohio Turnpike Commission are spent we have nothing but someone else raising tolls and not maintaining the turnpike. Just talk to those from Indiana.

Please call to voice your opposition to any plans to sell or lease our Ohio Turnpike! If foreign entities can make money operating our Turnpike, why can’t we? We do not want to lose control of one of northern Ohio’s greatest assets when it comes to economic development.

• Governor Kasich’s phone number is 614/466-3555

• Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur’s phone number is 419/693-0078

• Congressman Bob Latta’s phone number is 202/225-6405

• The Ohio Turnpike Commission’s phone number is 440/234-2081

Join me in the fight to keep the Ohio Turnpike just that—the OHIO Turnpike! In my talks with local villages and townships I have shared that this is one on my first priorities if elected. With the governor moving forward on this now, I may not get a chance to make a difference on this topic.
