An article in the Sept. 12 Morenci city council report mentions Consumer Energy's claim that wind turbines would have to be placed along I-75 from the Ohio border to Mackinaw City in order to meet a proposed mandate calling for 25 percent of energy coming from renewable sources.

Consumers wants readers to know they actually have no intention of lining I-75 with turbines. The statement was only an illustration of the number of turbines needed to meet the proposed mandate.

Michigan voters will decide the fate of the proposal next month on a ballot issue that would make renewable energy standards part of the state constitution.
