2012.08.08 Theresa Pobanz: How about a dog park?

Written by David Green. Posted in Letters

We were cruising the town during the city-wide sales and came upon the old Parker property—a nice fenced in area inside town. We wondered why it couldn’t be a dog park for the four-legged citizens of the town.

We had thought the old hospital property would be good but the fencing would probably be cost prohibitive for the city to bear. The old Parker property is already pretty well fenced in (it needs a little work) and is large enough for even big dogs to have a run and romp.

I know it is a brownfield and nothing can be built there, but a dog park uses only the surface. It just needs the fence fixed and a small entry-way built and a water source for the “kids” to drink from, and maybe a couple benches for the adults.

Morenci has done great things for the children of the area with the great playground in Wakefield Park and at the school. How about a little fun for our four-legged children?
