2012.08.01 Eric Maris: Response to turbine advertisement

A response to an advertisement,

As I was browsing through the latest edition of the State Line Observer I was surprised by an advertisement from an organization based on Elliott Hwy. It  had some official looking seals with decibel numbers on it and official looking graphics behind it. The reason I was surprised is that I had seen these exact same graphics, numbers and seals before. I realized I had seen them in a wind energy development agreement packet that Larry Gould from Great Lakes Wind and his partners from Exelon Wind had given  to the Ogden Twp. Board and the Citizens Committee for wind turbine siting to which I had been appointed.

The odd thing  is that only a very few had access to these graphics and documents: the Ogden Trustee board, the Citizens Committee, Exelon Wind and their local partner, Larry Gould’s Great Lakes Wind. So who gave this Elliott Hwy. organization these graphics?

We can eliminate the Ogden officials. After reading the recommendation of the Citizen’s Committee, the Trustee board voted 5-0 to enact a 40 dB noise limit at the property line. This is a lower limit than the graphics refered to. That leaves Exelon Wind and Larry Gould’s Great Lakes Wind. I think we can eliminate Exelon Wind because they moved their project from Lenawee County to Gratiot County because of “significant local opposition” to the project. So now we are only left with Larry Gould of Great Lakes Wind.

If you have followed along with me this far I think you will draw the same conclusion that I have: the organization from Elliott Hwy. must have hacked Larry’s computer.
