2011.10.26 Anita VanZile: Ruth Marlatt deserves another term

Posted in Letters

Election Day is just around the corner. Government appears to be ruling more of our lives, but without it, there would be anarchy. It is our duty to elect those to office who are proud to serve this great republic, and to vote for those who will do it with honesty and integrity.

We would like to take advantage of our right to freedom of free speech and voice our support for Ruth Marlatt as candidate for the mayor of the village of Fayette. With over 14 years serving as past mayor and council person, she is more than qualified for the position. As a retired school teacher, Ruth has the time to dedicate herself to village affairs. Not only is Ruth a village resident of almost 40 years, but she is visible at many functions around town. And just as important as those mentioned qualities, Ruth has the heart.

Ruth has given her time generously to Fayette. She has helped to expand the Fayette Business Park. She has been active in bringing neighborhoods together in helping our residents offer solutions and suggestions for the betterment of Fayette. And on many occasions, Ruth has opened her home for visitors in order that they may experience first-hand Fayette’s hospitality.

This is not an easy time for any small village and it will take perseverance to bring us through these tough economic times. Ruth has seen this village through good times and bad. In this tough economy, Ruth is willing to help steer the village back into good times.  She has the pride, experience, history and the heart. Please vote for Marlatt on November 1st.
