2011.10.12 Kelly Fletcher: Grateful for small-town support

Written by David Green. Posted in Letters

One year ago October 14th, our world came crashing down. Our family has not forgotten everything everyone has done to help us deal with the loss of our son, Collin Fletcher.

As this day has been approaching, there are days we all feel that we literally cannot breathe. I want to thank everyone who just lends a shoulder to cry on or an ear to just listen.

Losing a child can turn your whole world upside down. It’s so hard to also see your other children suffer from the loss. My heart also breaks for all of his friends.

Our children are gifts from God. They should never be taken for granted. Our small town has been through more than any group of people should go through. This community is our family. We are one big family, and I’m very proud to say this.

I know Collin is watching over us all. I know he is as proud of this community as we are. The only tears he may have are tears of joy. Collin I know is very honored to call this town “his Small Town U.S.A., his family.”
