While relaxing in my living room on Saturday morning, a quick bit of motion caught my eye out the front window. Now, considering very little motion occurs on Cawley Road most of the time, one takes heed when something out of the norm happens in front of the house. Especially at 7:30 a.m.
A second glance indicated a man running westbound down Cawley Road. Concern then crossed my mind that something evil may have been afoot. Taking a second glance there seemed to be the lack of presence of an angry dog chasing this runner, nor the presence of police in foot pursuit. Upon closer scrutiny I recognized the runner as our local newspaper editor. Seems the only danger he was attempting elude was an early demise by jogging.
Now, please do not get me wrong, I am a huge fan of physical fitness. However, that being said, I am also a huge fan of Cheese Danish, Eggs fried in Butter, and McDonald’s French Fries. I am seriously questioning the true benefit of exercising by society as a whole. You see, due to the benefits of modern medicines we are all living longer. This issue of living longer is placing a strain on the Social Security System and Medicare benefits received by seniors.
David Green is one of the pillars of the community and I greatly respect his dedication to providing the latest news to the citizens of the area. I also believe that he would never use more than his fair share of the social security pie. “On Purpose”
At this time I am taking this opportunity to enter a plea to the Editor and Chief of the local newspaper to please partake of a greasy cheeseburger or a huge plate of pancakes and sausage, and drive to work every once in while. I, myself, would never consider placing a burden on the National Benefit programs. Walking to fridge or the climbing the stairs to the sleeping room would seem to qualify as enough exercise. Please be considerate to the rest of mankind. There are limited Social Benefits to be distributed among us all. Please leave us short timers with our fair share.
