2009.09.10 Mary Snyder: Move the police department

Posted in Letters

I have been reading about all the pros and cons about moving the police department to the building on Salisbury. I don’t know if anyone will agree with me or not, but the building has been empty for a while. All this fuss about a factory moving in there is nonsense. Morenci may have a lot to offer, but if I was looking for a place for my factory, I’m sorry but I would not look here in Morenci.

This is just my opinion and I’m only one person, but I say move the police department A.S.A.P. Our police deserve a bigger place where they have space for all that is needed to operate a department.

Come on people, support your police department. There are no factories looking for a place here in Morenci. In fact, a shopping cart factory has set up shop where? Not here, but Adrian. Case closed. Move the police department and quit bickering and dragging your feet.

– Mary Snyder

Coomer Street, Morenci

Editor’s note: Morenci city clerk/administrator Renée Schroeder said the company that manufactures shopping carts needed approximately 20,000 square feet for its operation and the N.W.D. building offers about 8,000.

The business owner was shown other property in town, but the nature of the business requires an electrical source that wasn’t available here, nor in Hudson.

The N.W.D. building has been vacant since January 2009.
