2008.10.22 Heather Walker: school band

Posted in Letters

It is not often that I find myself teary-eyed during the playing of the National Anthem before a sporting event. But then again, the “Star-Spangled Banner” is not usually performed live on a football field by more than 100 little voices. Kudos to band director Jamie Devoe and music teacher Keith Filipek for an amazing organizational feat and musical treat at the Homecoming game, October 10.

Additionally, congratulations to Mr. Devoe and the marching band not only for their unique “light show” after last Friday’s game, but also for their success the following day at the District Marching Band Festival. The band scored a second division rating, earning the band its first district trophy in 16 years. Way to go!
