I am writing regarding the upcoming millage/bond issue. This is an excellent opportunity for our school to address the many maintenance issues our schools face. I can speak of the elementary school as I spend over eight hours there each day and can see first hand some areas that are in desperate need of repair.

Daily, we are faced with constant reminders of our failing plumbing system. Each and every day we have toilets that are overflowing, failing to flush, running and not stopping. Keep in mind, with over 350 students and adults here, toilets are a must.

These funds will also provide the school the opportunity to upgrade our technology equipment and system. Our students will strongly benefit, as technology is a huge piece in our future and present job market.

The tile floors in the gym and classrooms are in desperate need of repair with missing tiles, cracked and broken tiles, not to mention the asbestos.

This millage will alleviate the many issues in each building without raising taxes or cutting into the general fund.

This program has many checks and balances with the state, therefore, you will know that the money will be spent to correct the problems in our aging schools.

Please vote “yes” on May 6.
