Kenneth L. Sell, 82, of Morenci, died Jan. 4, 2006 at Banner Gardens Hospice House in Mesa, Ariz.

He was born Sept. 4, 1923 in Riga, Mich., the son of Hervey and Neva (Fatchett) Sell. He married Lynette Studer on June 3, 1944 in Detroit, Mich., and she survives.

Ken graduated from Blissfield High School in 1941. He was a farmer all his life, retiring in 1999. He worked for many seed companies, trucking their seed products, and also sold corn and soybeans for many years. He enjoyed visiting with farmers while he sold seed products.

Ken and his wife spent winters in Mesa, Ariz., for eight years. He attended Apache Wells Community Church in Arizona and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Weston, Mich. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed mowing his property.

Besides his wife, Ken is survived by four children, Roger (and Connie) Sell of Morenci, Shirley (and Neil) Foreman of Houston, Texas, Delores (and Walter) Wurst of Saline, Mich., and Walter Sell of Adrian; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Helen and Betty Sell and Ruby and Evelyn Klump; a brother-in-law, Wayne McMunn and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Maneta McMunn; brothers, Edward and Gerald Sell, and a nephew, Richard Sell.

Funeral services were Jan. 9 at Anderson Funeral Home in Adrian with pastor Mark Smith officiating. Burial followed in Lenawee Hills Memorial Park in Adrian. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lenawee or the Weston United Methodist Church.

    HOSE safety—The FireCatt hose testing company from Troy put Morenci Fire Department hose to the test Monday morning when Mill Street was closed to traffic. The company also checks nozzles and ladders for wear in an effort to keep fire fighters safe while on calls.

    BIKE-A-THON—Children in Morenci’s Summer Recreation Program brought their bikes last Tuesday to participate in a bike-a-thon. Riders await the start of the event at the elementary school before being led on a course through town by organizer Leonie Leahy.
