Shipman, Bruce

Bruce Allen Shipman, 57, of Medina Township, Mich., died Feb. 10, 2013, at his home.

He was born April 24, 1955, in Adrian, Mich., the son of Merton and Helen (Severence) Shipman.

Bruce was a 1973 graduate of Hudson High School and was employed with Tecumseh Products for more than 15 years.

Bruce was an avid music lover and played the guitar as a member of a local band, Asylum. He also enjoyed photography and often took pictures at weddings and celebrations of his friends.

Bruce is survived by two brothers, Ron Shipman of Delta, Ohio, and Douglas Shipman of Golden, Col.; a sister, Sandy (and Dave) VanCoppenolle of Adrian; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his long-time companion, Julie Johnson.

Visitation is planned from 5-8 p.m.  Friday, Feb. 15, at Eagle Funeral Home in Hudson. Interment will take place in Maple Grove Cemetery in Hudson at a later date.

Memorial donations are suggested to the family.

    HOSE safety—The FireCatt hose testing company from Troy put Morenci Fire Department hose to the test Monday morning when Mill Street was closed to traffic. The company also checks nozzles and ladders for wear in an effort to keep fire fighters safe while on calls.

    BIKE-A-THON—Children in Morenci’s Summer Recreation Program brought their bikes last Tuesday to participate in a bike-a-thon. Riders await the start of the event at the elementary school before being led on a course through town by organizer Leonie Leahy.
