Phyllis J. Miller, 63, of Fayette, Ohio, died Jan. 18, 2013, at Toledo Hospital following a battle with colon cancer.
She was born March 16, 1949, in Hudson, Mich., to the late Franklin and Betty (Schoonover) Grant. Phyllis married Howard Lee “Howie” Miller on April 24, 1970, in Fayette, and he preceded her in death Dec. 27, 2011.
Phyllis lived her early life in the Morenci area and was a graduate of Chesterfield High School. Phyllis was primarily a homemaker while she raised her young girls, but later was employed at Fayette Tubular Products and Plastech in Wauseon, Ohio, working until both factories closed. Her family remembers her enjoyment of playing cards, gambling, gardening and keeping tabs on her neighbors.
Phyllis is survived by two daughters, Jody Jennings of Fayette, and Shannon (and Lloyd) Salmons of Romulus, Mich.; a sister, Nancy (and Danny) Hammack of Adrian, Mich.; and three grandchildren, Austin, Lauren and Hailey.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Keith Grant.
Funeral services are planned at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at Eagle Funeral Home-Barrett Chapel in Fayette, with Pastor Kathy Currier officiating. Interment will follow at the Pleasant View Union Cemetery in Fayette. Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Monday.
Memorial donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
