Bill Cochrane, 91, of Morenci, Mich., died May 28, 2012, at the Fulton Manor in Wauseon, Ohio. 

He was born Aug. 2, 1920, in Onsted, Mich., the son of George and Winnifred (Ross) Cochrane.  On June 28, 1941, in Reading, Mich., he married Irene Aemisegger.  She preceded him in death Dec. 25, 2010.

Bill lived in the Morenci area since 1965, moving from Quincy. He farmed and also worked at Whiteford Valley Golf Course near Ottawa Lake, Mich.

He is survived by three daughters, Carol (and Larry) Clymer of Wauseon, Beverly (and Don) Zuvers of Morenci and Sharon (and Ernie) Hicks of Montpelier, Ohio; a son, Gary (and Tammy) Cochrane of Wauseon; a daughter-in-law, Cherie Cochrane;  15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Besides his wife, Bill was preceded in death by a son, Robert; two brothers, Ross and Wilfred Cochrane; a granddaughter, Joie Lee Redlawski; and a great-great-granddaughter, Savannah Hicks.

Funeral services are planned at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 2, at Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci, with Rev. Jane Ream officiating.  Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci.  Visitation is scheduled from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Morenci Fire Department or to the Skelton Brothers Reward Fund.

    HOSE safety—The FireCatt hose testing company from Troy put Morenci Fire Department hose to the test Monday morning when Mill Street was closed to traffic. The company also checks nozzles and ladders for wear in an effort to keep fire fighters safe while on calls.

    BIKE-A-THON—Children in Morenci’s Summer Recreation Program brought their bikes last Tuesday to participate in a bike-a-thon. Riders await the start of the event at the elementary school before being led on a course through town by organizer Leonie Leahy.
