Brian Gilson, 35, of Morenci, Mich., died unexpectedly Saturday, July 24, 2010.

He was born Dec. 6, 1974, in Morenci to Bob and Vickie (Huff) Gilson. On Oct. 24, 1995, in Wauseon, Ohio, he married Kristin Crawford and she survives.

Brian was a life-long resident of Morenci.  He was a graduate of the Morenci Area High School class of 1993.  He was employed as a maintenance man at TRW in Fayette, Ohio, for 16 years.  He had a passion for the outdoors, especially when it came to hunting.  He lived for deer hunting and also loved snowmobiling.

Besides his wife, Kristin, Brian is survived by two daughters, Breanna and Kalee; a son, Austin; his mother, Vickie (Dugan) Maginn of Fayette; his father, Bob Gilson of Morenci; two sisters, Brandie White and Bridget (and Jeremiah) Jones; a grandfather, Bob Huff; and several nieces and nephews.

Brian was preceded in death by a brother, Todd; an aunt, Teresa Pontious; and his grandparents.

Funeral services are scheduled at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 29, at the Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci, with Pastor Larry Smith officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci.  Visitation is scheduled from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday

    HOSE safety—The FireCatt hose testing company from Troy put Morenci Fire Department hose to the test Monday morning when Mill Street was closed to traffic. The company also checks nozzles and ladders for wear in an effort to keep fire fighters safe while on calls.

    BIKE-A-THON—Children in Morenci’s Summer Recreation Program brought their bikes last Tuesday to participate in a bike-a-thon. Riders await the start of the event at the elementary school before being led on a course through town by organizer Leonie Leahy.
