Morenci Fre Department offering free smoke detectors 2012.10.31

Written by David Green.

Morenci Fire Chief Chad Schisler knows there are still homes in the Morenci area without any smoke alarms or without an adequate number of smoke alarms. Because of this, he knows the potential for serious fire damage and loss of life also exists in the community.

The fire department, in conjunction with the Morenci Kiwanis Club, continues to offer free smoke detectors, with just one hitch—they’re free as long as a member of the fire department handles the installation

Chief Schisler really wants detectors in all homes, but he also wants to see them installed correctly in the best locations. Department personnel have been trained to determine how many detectors are needed and they should  be placed to best protect residents of the house.

The Morenci Kiwanis Club provides funding for the detectors in hopes of improving safety for area residents.

To obtain free smoke detectors, call 458-2301 and leave a message if no one is present at the station.
