Fayette Area Foundation members recently celebrated the organization’s 20th anniversary of community service.
The Foundation was organized on Sept. 21, 1992, with nine trustees—Joe Long, Tom Spiess, David Metcalf, Sue Schaffner, Dee Ferguson, Kathy Fix, Pauline Jones, Lowell Beaverson and Elaine Eagle.
At the fall meeting Sept. 18, David Metcalf was honored after serving as treasurer for 20 years. He is resigning his position.
The Fayette Area Foundation serves as a liaison between various community organizations and donors who wish to give financial support.
Over the years, gifts have ranged from annual scholarships for students, to donations to the Fayette Opera House, the Fayette library and Fayette schools.
Most recently, the Foundation donated $3,000 to Fayette Local Schools for the purchase of four iPads and a laptop computer with software for the music department.
