Follow Morenci's garbage rules 2012.08.08

Written by David Green.

A public notice is published in this week’s Observer to remind residents of the rules governing trash pick-up. Some residents are not complying with requirements.

The notice states that only one garbage bag can be placed at the curb each week, and garbage should not be placed outside more than 24 hours prior to 7 a.m. on the collection day.

In order to place more than one bag at the curb, a tag must be purchased and affixed to each bag. Tags are available for $2 each from city hall, Lightning Quick and Borchardt Brothers Market.

More than one bag can be placed inside the cart available for rent by Modern Waste Systems, but the lids of the cart must be closed flat.

One “bulky item” per dwelling is allowed to be set out each Friday. For a list of what is considered a bulky item, visit city hall or call 458-6828.

Compliance with the rules by everyone will help keep costs down, said city clerk Renée Schroeder.
