Three Morenci groups shared in $1,388 in funds from the 2011 United Way campaign.

Morenci Elementary School’s winter clothing program and the city’s Summer Recreation Program each received $463.

In addition, Stair Public Library’s summer reading program was given $235 in allocated funds and $227 in funds designated by donors for a total of $462.

Each year, Lenawee United Way provides funds to non-profit programs in Addison, Blissfield, Britton, Clinton, Deerfield, Hudson, Morenci, Onsted, Sand Creek and Tecumseh through the community fund distribution grants process. The funds available each year are based on dollars raised through Lenawee United Way’s annual fund-raising campaign.

The community fund distribution process has been a part of the mission of Lenawee United Way as a way of reaching the needs specific to each community “to create a measurably better life for the people of Lenawee County.”
