A three-vehicle collision Saturday night resulted in the deaths of two people and injuries to three others.
Canandaigua resident Billy Joe Cavazos, 43, and Osseo resident Joshua Michael Weage, 30, died from injuries.
According to the Lenawee County Sheriff Department report, Weage was westbound on M-34 near Sword Highway when his car struck the rear of a horse trailer pulled by Charles VanPelt of Clayton.
Weage’s car then crossed the centerline and struck the Cavazos automobile that was headed east on M-34.
Weage was transported by medical helicopter to Toledo Hospital where he died. Cavazos, after he was freed from his vehicle, was transported to Bixby Medical Center by ambulance and pronounced dead.
James Gary Crossman, 62, a passenger in the Cavazos vehicle, was treated for injuries at Bixby. VanPelt and his wife, Karen, 37, traveled to Bixby by private vehicle for treatment. Passengers Timothy VanPelt, 20, and Isabella VanPelt, 8, were uninjured.
The sheriff’s department is still investigating the accident.
