A two-car crash Monday afternoon resulted in the death of three Lyons area residents.

Tobin Benner, 29, of 120 Ash St., Lyons, was westbound on State Route 120 in a Toyota Prius when he collided with an eastbound Ford Explorer driven by Karen Donahue Pinkelman, 45, of 14711 State Route 120.

The accident occurred shortly after 5 p.m. between County Road 13.1 and County Road 14.

Pinkelman’s passenger, her four-month-old grandson, Nash Donahue, also died in the accident.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the Benner vehicle veered left of center and the automobiles collided head-on.

The incident remains under investigation.

Pinkelman was well known in the area for organizing the Trot for a Track 5K event that raised money for Evergreen High School’s new running track. The event was created in honor of her late husband, Dennis Donahue, who died of a heart attack in 2006.
