The Morenci Area Chamber of Commerce announced its first Member of the Year award, and the winner is Kent Deatrick.

Deatrick continues to create web pages for Chamber members on the Chamber of Commerce website.

Members voted Jan. 14 to spend $200 for additional lights and extension cords to be used in next year’s holiday display at Wakefield Park; to give $100 of Morenci Money for prizes at a Ladies Night Out event next month; to give $100 of Morenci Money for a prize at the Morenci Kiwanis-Rex Riley Soup and Pie fund raiser; and to spend $50 for a half-page advertisement in the Soup and Pie program book.

The next Chamber of Commerce meeting is scheduled Feb. 11 at the Morenci Pub, one of the group’s newest members.
