Three Morenci agencies received funding from the Lenawee United Way for 2009.

The Lenawee United Way Board of Directors reviewed the recommendations of the Community Fund Distribution committees for the outlying communities in greater Lenawee County and approved the program funding.

Stair Public Library received $1,535 for programming; the Morenci Fire Department received $550 for helmet microphones; and Morenci Elementary School received $1,100 for winter weather clothing.

The Community Fund Distribution program is designed to address needs specific to each community “to create a measurably better life for the people of Lenawee County.”

Lenawee United Way board expresses appreciation for the support shown by Morenci over the years and encourages participation in the current 2009-10 campaign.

The elementary school’s winter clothing fund also received a donation of $400 from Wal-Mart via the Morenci Kiwanis Club and $116.25 from the Morenci United Methodist Church.
