Fayette school alumni banquet set 11.25.09

The Fayette High School Alumni Banquet is scheduled July 31, 2010, with a catered dinner to be served in the school gymnasium.

A special feature of this year’s banquet is the presentation of the Distinguished Alumni award.

Anyone who knows of any changes in address since the last Alumni Banquet is asked to contact one of the committee members with the new information.

Alumni officers for 2010 are David Metcalf, president; Arnie Stuckey, vice president; Dolores Kingsley Ferguson, secretary; and DeeAnn Daso Potter, treasurer. Committee members include Maxine Miller Crawford, Jim Crawford, Eloise Lucas Wyse, Gary Rice, Linda Hutchison Nanez, Tim Rutherford and Melissa Knisely Harris.

Additional information on both the Distinguished Alumni award and the banquet will be sent in early 2010.

    HOLDEN HUTCHISON gives a hug to a black bear cub—the product of a taxidermist’s skills—at the Michigan DNR’s Great Youth Jamboree. The event on Sunday marked the fourth year of the Jamboree. Additional photos are on page 12.

    Crossing over—Jim Heiney was given a U.S. flag to carry by George Vereecke (behind Jim in the hat), turning him into the leader of the parade.     HOSE safety—The FireCatt hose testing company from Troy put Morenci Fire Department hose to the test Monday morning when Mill Street was closed to traffic. The company also checks nozzles and ladders for wear in an effort to keep fire fighters safe while on calls.

    BIKE-A-THON—Children in Morenci’s Summer Recreation Program brought their bikes last Tuesday to participate in a bike-a-thon. Riders await the start of the event at the elementary school before being led on a course through town by organizer Leonie Leahy.
