An Addison resident hopes to make a lot he owns in Morenci suitable for building. A public hearing is scheduled Sept. 21 to consider his request for a variance.
Joel Morrison owns the lot at the northwest corner of Wilson and N. Summit streets where a house burned several years ago. Like many lots where existing homes stand, the dimensions of the property no longer meet zoning requirements.
Morrison seeks a variance on required setbacks to enable a home to be erected. The lot measures 51 by 120 feet for total square footage of 6,120. R2 zoning requires a minimum of 7,500 square feet.
In addition, zoning requirements call for a minimum width of 66 feet.
Comments can be made at the meeting—6:30 p.m. Sept. 21—or sent to city hall in advance.
