    CHILDREN at Stair District Library’s Family Story Time toss scarves into the air during an activity. The evening program provided a mix of stories, songs, dancing, crafts and snacks Monday evening. The program is offered at 5:30 p.m. every Monday for five more weeks. The program is designed for three to five year olds and their family.

    MORENCI’S three Skelton brothers were remembered with both tears and laughter last week during a candlelight vigil at Wakefield Park. Several people came out of the crowd to give their recollection of the boys who have now been missing for five years.

    MORENCI student Dalton McCowan puts everything into a dead lift attempt Saturday morning during the Wyseguy Push/Pull event. Lifters helped raise more than $1,600 for the family of the late Devin Wyse, a former Morenci power-lifter who graduated last year. Commemorative T-shirts are still available by contacting teacher Dan Hoffman.

Fairfield Lodge #125, F & AM award night 7.22.09

Fairfield Lodge #125, F & AM, met for its annual Awards Night at the LISD TECH Center July 11. Following dinner, members and guest were welcomed by Larry Keller, Worshipful Master of Fairfield Lodge. The invocation was given by Norman Long, Past Master, and special music was provided by William Garcia.

Michael Morse, Past Master, served as Master of Ceremonies. He introduced Larry Keller, Worshipful Master; Eleanore Argue, Worthy Matron of Fairfield Chapter; and Raymond Lemons, Senior Grand Deacon of the Grand Lodge of Michigan.

Weldon Joughin, William Stuttz, Howard Close, Ronald Ely and Ken Pickford received Life Membership certificates and 40-year pins. Raymond Lemons, Senior Grand Deacon, presented 50-year pins to Glenn Richard Kelly, Ralph Ferris and Howard Keller.    He presented 60-year pins to Justin Sutton, Jr., and Edward Potter. Each of the honored guests spoke about their years of service in the Lodge and special memories of some of the previous events.

 Lemons offered greetings on behalf of the Grand Officers for 2009 and discussed events and programs planned and implemented for the 2009-2010 Lodge year.
